Surrounded by a region rife with armed conflict, MELAAHA pays special attention to the applications of drone technology for search and rescue purposes. Rescuers and search teams can use UAVs to comb through affected areas for victims of natural or man-made disasters without exposure to the risks that abound in these areas. Further, with the help special devices and sensors, such as Forward Looking Infrared cameras (FLIR), drones can detect potential hazards including gas leaks or nuclear radiation.
